CE Speaker: Attorney-at-Law, Partner, Michael Rossiter, Scott & Whitehead
California law requires that employers with 5 employees or more, receive training on sexual harassment and abusive conduct in the workplace. This mandatory training program satisfies California’s legal requirements for harassment prevention training. The course addresses the recognition, prevention, and reporting of harassment, discrimination, and abusive conduct in the workplace. Through real-world scenarios and interactive exercises, participants will learn to foster a respectful work environment while understanding their rights and responsibilities under California law.
Employees are to receive the training within six months of hire or promotion, (from non-supervisory position to supervisory position), and must undergo the same training every two (2) years thereafter. Temporary employees must receive the training within 30 calendar days or 100 hours worked, whichever occurs first. This is a two-hour training; both supervisory and non-supervisory staff shall attend the first hour and only supervisory staff are required to attend the second hour.
Learning Objectives:
• Define harassment, discrimination, and retaliation under California law and federal statutes.
• Identify behaviors that constitute unlawful workplace conduct and abusive behavior.
• Learn best practices for reporting and addressing harassment complaints in compliance with legal requirements.
• Understand the role of supervisors in creating a harassment-free work environment.
• Gain insights into fostering a culture of respect and accountability.
The first hour of this training (which both supervisory and non-supervisory staff must attend) concludes by 5:00 pm PST in an effort to avoid paying non-supervisory staff at an overtime rate for their attendance.
Note: Non-supervisory staff may jump off the 'live' CE webinar at 5pm PST to continue the training for the Employer and Supervisors who will stay on until 6pm PST.
